Catalyst for Youth, a community-based public charity and educational non profit organization offers fiscal sponsorship for emerging artists in all visual and performing mediums and projects that target a youth and young adult population. Having a fiscal sponsor allows you to approach grantors who require applicants to be an IRS recognized tax-exempt, charitable operating organization. The program also benefits individuals who can fund your project by making their contribution(s) tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
As the fiscal sponsor, Catalyst serves as the go between for the grantee and the grantor. In essence, Catalyst is extending its exempt status in order to help the grantee reach its fundraising goals. The project remains property of the grantee. Catalyst monitors the project’s financial and grant reporting behaviors to ensure that the project abides by the conditions set forth by the grantor.
As a non-profit 501c3 recognized by the federal and state governments, the YEC sponsors youth-serving and youth-led projects that work for social justice and build the leadership skills of young people. This allows up-and-coming youth groups to get foundation and government grants and receive donations that are tax-deductible.
Youth Speaks, Inc. acts as fiscal sponsor for tax deductible contributions to the arts, educational work and grassroots organizations. A fiscal sponsorship program allows a public charity, tax-exempt under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, to conduct a program of support to individuals and to nonexempt organizations that is legal and proper.
